Getting Started with AGL

Communications

Please subscribe to the AGL mail list for developer questions, general issues, etc

Steering Committee members may subscribe to the SC mail list

IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

Please join us on IRC at the #automotive channel on Freenode.net

If you have not used IRC before, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a convenient way to connect to teams and share text-based information in realtime. IRC is widely used by engineers when collaborating on open source projects.

You can access IRC via the web or a traditional client - here is a list of clients and a primer on how to use IRC if you are new to it.

If you are behind a firewall, a web client may be best; irccloud is a popular hosted solution, or you could try the Freenode web client. If you want to host your own service for web access, shout-irc may be of interest and is fully open source. Codethink has setup a live instance of shout-irc at chat.codethink.co.uk for AGL community members to try out.

Register for Accounts

All Automotive Grade Linux sites use a single sign-on. Start by creating an account here: https://dev.automotivelinux.org. With this account you can update this Wiki, access Jira for issue tracking, access source code in Gerrit and Git, and access requirements in our DOORS NG database.

Please note that when creating a user name it must have no spaces or special characters because the DOORS server will not accept user names with those formats. Therefore email addresses should NOT be used as account names.

Recurring Meetings

We have a weekly developer meeting and a number of other recurring Expert Group meetings that everyone is invited to participate in. The complete list of meetings as well as links to the AGL Google Calendar to subscribe to can be found here.

Jira

The AGL Jira server is at https://jira.automotivelinux.org

Jira usage for AGL is described here.

Source Code

Source Code is accessible via the AGL Gerrit/Git repositories. The repositories are open for read access to anyone. You can clone the source trees for the projects via HTTP. You can find the URL for a project in the Summary section of the project when clicking on the Gitweb link in Gerrit. We have created a tutorial on how to download and build the code. Here is a tutorial for building for the Renesas R-Car M2 (Porter) board

If you would like to clone and submit changes you will need an account for Gerrit. We do encourage you to submit improvements and bug fixes. Once you have created your developer account you will want access to on-going projects. If you need access to a specific project you can contact the project owner or submit a Jira ticket to get the right permissions for your account.

A detailed list of Developer Resources is also accessible.

DOORS NG

The AGL doors server can be found at http://doors.automotivelinux.org. If you require access to the DOORS server we need to add your account to DOORS group on the server. Please create an issue in Jira with the summary “Add <account name> to DOORS NG Group” and include your username for the account. Once your account has been added to the project you will receive a welcome email from the server with additional instructions.
