o. == What is the functional safety expert group? ==

The automotive electronics system requires a functional safety infrastructure throughout all the electric components in the vehicle. The functional safety expert group redefines the functional safety infrastructure of the linux for the semiconductor chips with functional safety features.

Nowadays, most of the automotive SoC vendors are designing the SoCs(System-on-Chip, Semiconductor Chip with processor core) integrating proprietary architecture for detecting transient (as well as permanent) errors and faults. As the international standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 are becoming requisites in automotive industry, SoC with functional safety would be common in all the electrical components in vehicles.

The ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) adopted in automotive vehicles is driving the development and production of high-performance automotive SoCs over 600MHz operating frequency. As most of the ADAS applications such as LKAS(Lane Keeping Assistance System), APAS(Auto Parking Assistance System), Self-Driving, and etc. involves the driving control of vehicles, the functional safety would become very important issue in designing automotive OS and SoC.

The purpose of Functional Safety Expert Group is to redefine the functional safety feature to enrich AGL on top of automotive SoCs with functional safety architecture.
