10/13 - updating Waltham transmitter to use latest libweston. Now can stream to the waltham receiver and receive input from the remote device. Still some issues left to be resolved. New Business:
Reference hardware - proposal to issue BT/Wifi module with the TI Bluetooth hardware from the KF instead of the Qualcomm module. One question to Panasonic is to use the QC 6174 part that has firmware available. Scott pointed out that the TI will not work with “out of the box” Pulse Audio and Blues it will not work properly. Kurokawa-san checked with Cogent and they are using the KF design with Pulse Audio and different stack. Need to make sure the antenna uses the external connector on the Reference Hardware and not an onboard antenna like the KF since it is not usable most environments.
Update of PipeWire and WirePlumber - George explained that WirePlumber release from June uses the desktop policy instead of the AGL policy so there is three weeks of work to get the update ready. Not likely to happen for Koi.
Meet next week - yes
Paul received the Ref HW and KF from Raquel.

Retagged RC3 will be sent out by Jan-Simon,.

3/31 - Working on a number of open issues including those opened up by Edi as well as looking at integration with new Window Manager.
4/7 - Having some problems with home screen on the H3 board that are not seen on RPI4 on master.
4/14 - Problems with Chromium 72 on master being looked at.
4/21 - SPEC-3268 AGL landscape mode. Also still looking at Chromium 72 issues.
4/28 - Chromium upgrade still in progress and looking at issues with the H3. Getting help from Marius. Will need to look at the dunfell upgrade as well since that may break Chromium.
5/5 - Landscape mode patch (gerrit 24470) creates a new feature for HTML5 landscape so it does not interfere with the Qt apps. Looking at dunfell update.
5/12 - Updates to dunfell require Python 3 now and Chromium still has dependencies on Python 2 that need to be cleaned up. There is now a work around from Yocto (meta-python2) that builds Python 2 into dunfell. Jan-Simon will look into adding it.
5/19 - Still struggling with the Chromium update. Python 2 issue should be resolved with inclusion of gerrit 24504 to add meta-python2

Toyota code drop
Jan-Simon created a
sandbox that diffs the recipes from Halibut 8.0.2
Marius wondering what the implications and/or expectations of the Toyota code are on the compositor and window manager design.
Walt will try to get some clarification on the SC call tonight.
Yamaguchi-san did some analysis of the Toyota code drop and says that topics included are very low level and would have no impact on the compositor and window manager. Will follow up with Ohiwa-san during SAT call on Thursday.
4/28 - Confirmed with Toyota that there are no requirement for window manager and compositor in the Toyota code drop so far.

Happy Halibut - 8.0.6 is queued up for release
ASAP.
12/17 - Waiting on back port of audio fixes from George as well as policy manager changes.
1/7 - Need to retag 8.0.4 now that George's PipeWire and WirePlumber fixes are in.
1/14 - Edi and Jan-Simon on vacation so the release may not get sent out this week. Li was able test with Upsquare and RPI 3 and everything seemed ok.
1/21 - Edi tested 8.0.4 and tip of halibut so we will release it.

Alexa Auto SDK not explicitly supported. Scott has a fix to up rev to zeus.
Jose will do the switch to cynagora for the dbus patches - in review
2/11 - Next branch builds for all targets. Should be ready pull next into master. First we should review the gitreview files to make sure they are correct then will put next into master.
2/18 - 3 changes still in review for next. Should be ready to pull into master later this week. We've been slowed down by CI issues.
3/3 - Next branch was merged to master and everything builds. A few issues seen in the board farm that need to be ironed out around NBD. SD-Card boot looks fine. See SPEC-3221 for details. H3 problems seem to be resolved by updating the firmware. See SPEC-3221 for the update procedure.
3/10 - Net booting still being worked on. Some boards (e.g., Synopsis and others) do not have a zeus BSP layer. Jan-Simon will send email to the list to remind people interested in those boards that they need to provide a BSP layer or we will drop the board from the builds. Deadline is RC2.
3/17- Scott did some work to point AGL/next to the YP master to get a feel for the difficulty in upgrading to YP 3.1 for JJ. Overall went pretty smoothly.

1/28 - Edi tested 8.0.5 and noted some problems with media player and Bluetooth especially on first boot. He filed SPEC-3140 to track it and we will add it the list of known problems in the release notes.
2/11 - Edi reporting seeing SPEC-3140 (no playlist in media player) even with no Bluetooth phone paired and on multiple boards (Intel and RPI). One time left the system on for 20 minutes or so and the playlists appeared suddenly.
Jose fixed SPEC-3175. Want to check criticality of it to determine if we need to drop an 8.0.6 sooner than expected.
3/3 - There are about 15 changes queued up for Halibut including Jose's critical update + a number of patches from poky that fix CVEs. Will work on getting the build working then cut the release.
3/10 - Jan-Simon is sick this week, Not sure when this will get out, but will be
ASAP.
Bluetooth audio
2/18 - Jira issue created SPEC-3195.
3/3 - SPEC-3195 - George not on the call for an update.
3/10 - Looks like no progress in Jira ticket.
1/14 - Marius working on the new home screen and compositor. will continue the discussion tomorrow on the App FW call.
1/21 - Marius converted launcher and navigation demo. Issues with launching and managing applications being worked out with Jose, See
this thread on the groups.io. Sandbox will be posted to gerrit in the next day. Will set up a follow up call for Thursday.
1/28 - Marius in process of upstreaming compositor changes to gerrit.
2/4 - Need to get Marius use cases for how the apps and home screen services should interact and how they should be using the compositor. Who can work those out quickly and/or do we already have something written down?
Second session:
Home screen requirements not clear yet.
Sample apps developed so far do not fit the existing QML applications. Wayland and AGL compositor implementation needs to be put into abstraction like qt-wayland.
Will set up a video workshop sometime next week to get the latest status from Collabora, update their implementation status compared to September, and work through the requirements to complete the effort.
2/11 - Marius is creating a document that documents the changes has made to the compositor and window manager that we can use as the basis of a review next week. Will send it out to the community on Friday.
-
3/3 - Marius sent out his
technology preview to the email list. Will set up a call on Wednesday March 11 one hour before the App FW EG call to review pending agreement with Japanese members on the second call.
3/10 -Review of Marius document is scheduled to begin tomorrow.
i.Mx8 support- Manni
1/14 - Had some luck getting AGL minimal image up and running. Sounds like we need support from NXP to use the Vivante driver and will need some help from NXP to bypass the Vivante driver.
1/21 - Homescreen comes up, but apps do not run. Manni looking for help but board availability is limited in the community.
1/28 - i.mx8 running (etnaviv with 4.19 kernel?), but the response is very slow. Scott says that etnaviv support did not come in until the 5.4 kernel so Mani may be running with Vivante is some strange state.
2/4 - Now looking at SPEC-3149 - Added Marius as a watcher. Scott is flying back from Brussels.
2/11 - Making some progress. See SPEC-3149 for details.
2/18 - Got Vivante driver working. Having audio issues with PipeWire config. See SPEC-3183 for details.
3/3 - Audio issues still in flight (SPEC-3183). There is a general issue with PipeWire for i.MX devices that needs to be resolved upstream based on the work that was done for PulseAudio in the past.
3/10 - Latest work is documented in SPEC-3258. Scott focusing on getting etnaviv working on master. There is no Weston 7 support for zeus so this may be an issue. Walt could try poking NXP as to their plan for Weston 7 or 8 for i.MX8.
Itchy Icefish
Icefish release is tagged and built.
Everything from last week is merged. Edi
sent out a test report yesterday that looks good. 9.0.0 is tagged and build kicked off.
-
Source code mirror is fixed
Need to update release notes (Walt)
Need to review the doc site to Icefish branches. Board specific pages need to be checked by their maintainers. Walt and Jan-Simon to generate Jira tickets off-line.
3/10 - Will be shipped today. Will push back 9.0.1 to April 10.
Documentation
Need a replacement for Scott
3/3 - Walt will look for Component = Documentation and auto assign to someone (Walt for now).
3/10 - Thanks to Jan-Simom for making a lot of updates to the docs in the last week.

Scott brought up
Yocto/OE LTS plans. Should we switch to Yocto 3.1 for Jellyfish since zeus will not be supported beyond June of this year? Will add to SC and SAT agendas.
Thomas pointed out issues with the SDK builds.
Dr. Yamaguchi pointed out calendar issues with groups.io calendar integrating with Outlook. We figured out that all events need to be defined in terms of UTC for the groups.io calendar. Walt will update the calendar events in groups.io to be referenced to UTC rather than Chicago time.
Scott and Matt R. received notice from MapBox that the
API we use in our Nav Apps is being deprecated June 1. Matt can update the code to not use those APIs for master and Icefish.

Meeting notes for February 18, 2020

SPEC-3144 - Marius noted an issue (regression?) using QEMU with an OBMF file. Will document the issue in a Jira ticket. Also will need to update the
doc page. May be due to Paul's update to using a single image for image. The image now uses UEFI boot instead of PC bios.
Bluetooth audio
12/17 - Bluetooth media player works initially on halibut, but is easy to break by switching back to local media. It is possible that George's fixes to policy manager will improve this, but there is also an under run condition that cannot be explained by policy changes. Sandbox for the backport is sandbox/jsmoeller/halibut-pwupdate
1/7 - Media player switching works well. Occasionally see under runs, but it is hard to reproduce. Mic switching is a problem when we run Alexa and the wake word engine. We prioritize the phone's mic over the vehicle mic and things get confusing. If the phone goes away the wake word engine does not work.
1/14 - George sent a fix that is in gerrit that may fix the problems with Bluetooth switching. Mic prioritization still needs to be worked out.
1/21 - Everything looks merged. Scott will open an issue for the mic/HFP
1/28 - Scott needs to write the Jira ticket.
2/4 - No update
2/11 - Scott was able to reproduce the issue and will document it in Jira today. Not just a mic problem but also a speaker problem.
2/18 - Jira issue.

1/14 - Paul getting back to this.
1/21 - Paul's wounds were self-inflicted. Now testing with Upsquare and it works fine. Patch in gerrit under review. Will include it for 9.0.0 and can test the full change on the real hardware. Will still build separately for real hardware until we confirm everything looks good on Upsquare.
1/28 - Things looks from Paul's standpoint, but we need to test the real hardware with the new build. We can have Edi run the test suite using the new build on Upsquare and Minnow and see what breaks.
2/11 - Can close this. Will continue building the separate target for Icefish and only build the single image starting with Jellyfish.

We can have Edi run the test suite using the new build on Upsquare and Minnow and see what breaks.
i.Mx8 support- Manni
Jumping Jellyfish
Uprev to zeus on next branch in progress. Scott has a bunch of commits queued up.
Intel and Qemu looking ok.
Need Renesas up revs.
No TI version for Zeus available. Paul will try to work this out after FOSDEM.
i.MX6 builds, but not tried out.
RPI 4 ok. RPI 3 not built or tested
Alexa Auto SDK not explicitly supported. Scott will try it out.
Jose will do the switch to cynagora for the dbus patches - still in progress
New Business:
Need to get one of the Collabora H3 boards to Marius
RHSA update - meeting between Mazda and Panasonic about Qualcomm status. Walt will send out RFI to steering committee and Konsulko for BSP on Wednesday. Nakadachi-san will present a keynote at the AMM about the reference hardware.
Dev call time in summer time. Japan team would like to keep the time as 9 am so start will be move to 7 pm Chicago time, DST starts March 8 in the US.
Meeting notes for January 28, 2020
First Session Attendees:Walt, Jan-Simon, Scott, Mani, Parth, Raquel, Jose, Ronan, Thierry, Edi, Fred, Stepane, Michael, Christian, Leon, Lorenzo, Paul. Marius, Vincent, Pierre, Sebastien, George, Marc-Antoinc
Second Session Attendees: Upcoming Meeting
1/14 - Paul getting back to this.

Sancloud BBE
11/5 - BBE looked good at the tech showcase in Lyon last week thanks to Paul
11/19 - pushed updates to meta-ti and meta-agl-bsp. Build tested vayu board, but Paul does not have a Vayu to test with. Jan-Simon can take a look. This will make it into II RC1.
11/26 - Paul's changes were merged. BBE is ok. Still need to test with Vayu.
12/3 - Paul working with Jan-Simon on automotive cape enablement. Vayu having build issues.
12/10 - Nothing to report. Paul kicked off some builds last night to do some testing of some issues Edi found.
12/17 - Nothing to report
1/7 - Nothhing to report
1/14 - Things look good. Nothing to report. Probably nothing to do until upgrade to Zeus.
CES 2020 integration
10/15 - Two additional steering wheels arrived in Karlsruhe for modification. Haraki-san has prepared an additional 5 steering wheels. Michael needs to check on the availability of additional LIN/HVAC boards to ensure he can modify those boards. Will hold off on shipping those to Karlsruhe until we figure out what to do.
Scott finishing up splitting out the Amazon dependencies from the high level
API for speech.
11/5 -
API refactoring is complete. Need wake word engine support from Amazon. Philip or someone else from Amazon should be in Karlsruhe next week to support.
11/19 - Scott's changes from Yokohama were incorporated except the CAN Low level code was incorporated into build. (gerrit 22940 and 22933 do not build) Romain will take a look,
Kusakabe developing volume control module for steering wheel input. Receiving events correctly.
Kurokawa-san making progress on the container demo. Waltham connection not tested yet (sender integrated, but the receiver is not integrated into IC profile yet). Unicens another untested issue.
11/26
Kusakabe-san broke his personal LIN board so it will need to be replaced. Will work with Kurokawa-san to figure out a replacement, Sent steering wheel to Issei for shipment to SFO.
Kusakabe-san reports that CARLA software simulator from Toyota will be very difficult to integration. The documentation is Toyota Confidential and all in Japanese. In any case it is very large and difficult to figure out.
Integration session planned with Tanikawa-san and Kurokawa-san in Japan this week. Dropping Waltham back-end from the container demo. Will try to use the current video plug-in solution for IC communication,
12/3
12/10
Integration session in SFO this week. Two steering wheels both work for volume control and radio station scanning.
Thomas showed a video of the driving simulation and announced that the low can message database sent to Romain has been successfully integrated.

New Business:
SPEC-3106 - CAN binding between the RPI4 and H3 in the CES demo would lock up occasionally. Only way we could figure out how to fix it was to reboot the boards. Need to try Romain's latest patches to see if this helps.
SPEC-1903 - Stephane is resuming work on the
API specification.
Li noted that the RPI 4 is not included in the halibut pre-built binaries. Jan-Simon will add it.
